Victoria J. Vitale Lang, 83, of 1420 Fifth Ave., Ford City, Pa., died Wednesday,
June 7, 2000 at her residence at 1137 Sixth Ave. in Ford City.
 
She was born October 27, 1916 in Charleroi, Pa., to James and Martha (Roush)
Vitale.
 
Mrs. Lang was a retired substitute school teacher for the Armstrong School
District.
 
She was a member of the First United  Presbyterian Church, Ford City, where she
served as an elder and former Sunday school teacher; a member of the choir and
the Ladies Association.
 
Her other memberships included the Board of Directors of the Mid-County Transit
Authority; League of Arts; Ford City Library; Ford City Heritage Choir; Ford
City Hall of Fame; the Armstrong County Historical Society and the Kittanning
Woman's Club.
 
She served on the Ford City Board of Elections.
 
For more than 40 years she was a Girl Scout leader and trainer and was trained
by Juliet Lowe, the founder of the Girl Scouts of America.
 
Survivors include three children, Mrs. Robert (Grace) Woodside of Ford City,
James W. Lang of Wind Ridge, Pa., and Donna M. Lang of Ford City; eight
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Lang, who died
March 2, 1992 and one sister, Josephine Novak.
 
Friends of Victoria J. (Vitale) Lang, 83, of 1420 Fifth Ave., Ford City, who
died June 7, 2000, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to
4 and 7 to 9  p.m. Saturday at the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave, Ford
City, Pa., where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with her pastor,
Mr. Herb Reefer, CLP. officiating.
 
Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Inc., East Franklin
Township, Worthington, Pa.
 
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the handicapped access
fund at the First United Presbyterian Church of Ford City, Pa.
