Paul H. Kiel, 71, of RD 7, Kittanning (East Franklin Township), Pa., died
Friday, September 29, 1995 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin
Township, Kittanning, Pa.
 
He has been ill with cancer for the past year.
 
He was born January 4, 1924 in Jefferson County, to Curtis and Christina
(Wallwork) Kiel.
 
He was retired since 1986 from the Armstrong School District, where he was an
English teacher, having 34 years of service. Most of his teaching career was at
the Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.
 
He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning, Pa.
 
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II, where he served as
a Signal Corps Sergeant, during the D-Day Invasion in Normandy in 1944.
 
He obtained both, his bachelor of science degree and master of  education
degree.
 
He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity: the P.S.E. A.; and was a
lifetime member of the Kittanning Elks B.P.O.E. 203.
 
He was a resident of the Kittanning area for the past 44 years.
 
Survivors include his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Russell (Dr. Ellen Kiel) Iler of
Bethesda, Md.; two step grandchildren; and four sisters, Sara Kiel of
Philadelphia, Pa., Vera Stewart of Tuckhannock, Pa., Jane Binder of Dover, Del.,
and Ruth Hinderliter of Warren, Pa.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Christopher Michael Kiel,
who died in 1973.
 
Friends of Paul H. Kiel, 71k of Kittanning RD 7k who died Sept. 29, 1995, will
be received from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, until the time of funeral services
at 11 a.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning, with the associate
pastor, Dana L. Opp, officiating.
 
Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Inc., East Franklin
Township, Worthington, Pa.
 
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Grace Presbyterian
Church Memorial Fund and/or the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Cancer
Center.
