John J Keener

John J. Keener, 86, of Butler died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the VA in
Butler.

Born September 12, 1932 in East Brady, he was the son of Philip L. and Wilda M.
(Miliron) Keener.

John attended East Brady High School and studied voice with Michael Dolan in
Butler. 

A US Army Veteran, John served as a Private First Class during the Korean
Conflict.  He was a soloist with the Seventh Division Chorus in Korea.  He was a
recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the
United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

After returning, John graduated from Manhattan School of Music in New York and
performed several recitals in New York and Philadelphia.  He was also a member
and lead singer with the Fifth Avenue Opera Association.

He was a part of the faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High school for the
1966-1967 through 1970-1971 school years.

Surviving is his wife, Bernadette Keener of Butler, one sister; Joan Black of
Hermitage, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services for John J. Keener will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October
6, 2018 in St. Eusebius Cemetery, East Brady with Rev. William Kuba
officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation
Services Inc., East Brady, Pa.
