John William Hays

John  William "J Will" Hays, age 71, of 1014 Orvis Avenue, Pittsburgh, died at
7:25 a.m. Friday, December 10, 1971, at Columbia Hospital, Wilkinsburg.

He was born October 4, 1900, in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, a son
of William Martin and Arma Zella (Smith) Hays.

He was a 1932 graduate of Slippery Rock State Teachers College.

He was part of the faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1935-1936 and 1936-1937 school years. He also taught at the Sherrett school and
at Shaler Township Elementary, Allegheny County, ending his teaching career in
1965.

The retired school teacher was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Adrian,
and a member of the Armstrong County Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Trulick) Hays, a son, Frank W. Hays of
Baltimore Md.; a brother, the Reverend Carl Thorton Hays; two sisters, Isabel
Noble of Arnold and Rebecca Flayhart of New Kensington

His parents predeceased him.

Friends of J. Will Hays will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and
Sunday at the Walter G. Snyder Funeral Home, Cowansville.  Funeral services are
scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at St Mark's Lutheran Church, Adrian, with the
Reverend Lawrence Camberg, church paster in charge.

Burial in Saint Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Adrian, Pa.
