Jack W. Ammerman, 74, of RR 1, Rural Valley (Cowanshannock Township) Pa., died
Saturday, June 22, 1996 at his residence.
 
He was born January 19, 1922 in Templeton, Pa., to Charles M. and Mary Ruth
(Snyder) Ammerman.
 
Mr. Ammerman was a retired school teacher from the Armstrong School District. He
began his teaching career at Worthington-West Franklin High School from
1950-1951 and he also taught at Shannock Valley High School from 1951-1986.
 
He was a "Class of 1942" graduate of Kittanning High School and also was a
"Class of 1949"graduate of the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio.
 
He was a member of the Rural Valley Presbyterian Church.
 
A U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II, he was also a member of
the Masonic Lodge 227, Findlay, the Valley of New Castle Consistory, the
Kit-Ha-Ne Antique Auto Club, the Shannock Valley Antique Auto Club, the
Appalachian Wagon Train Association, the Indiana Trail Riders and the
Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
 
He was a charter member of the Armstrong County Mounted Posse.
 
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Clingerman) Ammerman, whom he married on
Jan. 4, 1945 and to whom he was married for 51 years; one daughter, Jane M.
Dellaporte of Philadelphia; one granddaughter, Sara Mae Dellaporte of
Philadelphia; and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Lettitia ) Imel of Clarion, Pa.
 
Friends of Jack W. Ammerman, 74, of RR 1, Rural Valley, who died June 22, 1996,
will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at
the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, 724 Main St., Rural Valley. Funeral services will
be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rural Valley Presbyterian Church, with his
pastor, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Fuehrer, officiating.
 
Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Inc., East Franklin
Township, Worthington, Pa.
