Margaret Claire Benton Beatty

Mrs. Margaret Claire Benton Beatty, 22, of Mars R.D. 1, formerly of the
Worthington area, was pronounced dead, August 9, 1970, on arrival at Butler
County Memorial Hospital with a broken neck and crushed chest, according to
Butler County Coroner, William F. Young Jr.

Carl J. Bartosch, 45, of 217 Cedar Cove St., South Hills, Pittsburgh, was dead
at the scene of a fractured skull, crushed chest and severe lacerations.

Critically injured was the driver's son, Keith Bartosch, 12, who was treated at
the Butler Hospital for multiple injuries. He was transferred to St. Joseph's
Hospital in Pittsburgh by the Butler Ambulance Service yesterday afternoon. The
boy was later transferred to the intensive care unit of Children's Hospital and
listed in serious codition.

Coroner Young said the fatal crash occurred on Route 8, near Augustine's
Distributorship, at 7:35 a.m. yesterday morning, Aug. 9, 1970.

Mrs. Beatty, a nurse, was driving south, apparently returning home after
completing her first shift back at work at the Butler Hospital, on the night
shift. She had been on maternity leave. Her car collided with the northbound
Bartosch auto. Middlesex Township Police said there is a possibility Mrs. Beatty
fell asleep at the wheel. Both cars were reported demolished.

The body of Carl J. Bartosch, 45, of 217 Cedar Cove St., South Hills,
Pittsburgh, was taken to the Mara "Cieslak Funeral Home on Brownsville Road in
Pittsburgh. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Margaret Claire "Abby" (Benton) Beatty, was born April 20, 1948, in Kittanning.
She was the daughter of A. Clair and Margaret (Hare) Benton. 

A former resident of Worthington, 

She was a member of the 1966 graduating class at Worthington-West Franklin High
School. 

She was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Butler County Memorial Hospital
and was employed there as a registered nurse at the time of her death.

She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington.

Surviving are her husband, William Beatty, a daughter, Jill Ann Beatty, at home;
her mother, Mrs. Margaret Benton, of New Bethlehem R.D. 2; her father, A. Clair
Benton, of Worthington; two brothers, Michael Benton, with the U.S. Navy, and
Jeffrey Benton, of Worthington; a half brother, Jimmy Benton, and two sisters,
Joann Benton and Mary Beth Benton, all of Worthington; her paternal grandmother,
Mrs. Pearl Benton, of Worthington; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edith Hare, of
Kittanning.

Friends of Mrs. Margaret Claire "Abby" Beatty of Mars R.D. 1, who died Sunday,
Aug. 9, 1970, will be received at the James A. Flick Funeral Home, Worthington,
from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
