Robert Joseph Anthony

A Fenelton area father of three was killed early this morning in a violent
one-car crash along Old Route 422, three miles west of Worthington, in West
Franklin Township, Armstrong County.

Robert Joseph Anthony, 27, of Box 24, Fenelton, was pronounced dead at the scene
of the crash at 12:45 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 22, 1975. Armstrong County
Coroner Robert Welsh attributed his death to a fractured neck.

Kittanning State Police said Anthony, who was driving a 1970 coupe, was
westbound at an apparent high rate of speed when the auto went out of control.

According to police, the auto went broadside across the highway and struck a
telephone utility pole guide wire. The auto then overturned and came to rest on
its roof, straddling a ditch. The impact with the wire caused two utility poles
to snap and the wires to fall.

Assisting Kittanning State Police at the scene were troopers from the Butler
Barracks.

Born December 19, 1947, in Worthington, Anthony was the son of James R. and
Virginia M. (Pauline) Anthony.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, PA.

He was a member of the Worthington Lutheran Church. He was formerly employed by
McNeese brickyard.
