Dwight Jerry Claypoole

Dwight Jerry Claypoole, 67, of Worthington, Pa, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014,
at home, with his wife, children and sister at his side.  

Born May 12, 1947, in Kittanning, Pa., he was the son of the late Randall Henry
and Dorothy Annamae (Claypoole) Claypoole, and was a lifetime resident of West
Franklin Township, Worthington, Pa.

He was a 1965 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.

He was a land and gas agent for Shawmut Development Co., and had been employed
by T.W. Phillips, from where he retired. 

He was a lifelong farmer and steward of the land. 

He was a member of Franklin Union Baptist Church, Worthington, a member of
Masonic Lodge 805 F and AM and Syria Temple Shrine. 

From 1966 to 1972, he served in the National Guard with Company E, 3rd
Battalion, 1st Engineer Company. He was active in politics in the Republican
Party.

Mr. Claypoole served for 20 years on the Worthington-West Franklin Joint
Municipal Authority, where he was the chairman, and was a board member of the
Armstrong County Sewage Authority. He also served on Worthington Borough Council
for 18 years, including being past president.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Ann (Thompson) Claypoole; two sons, Grant
R. Claypoole and wife, Tracy Lynn, of Worthington, and Gregg A. Claypoole and
wife, Cortney A., of Worthington; a daughter, Gail E. Claypoole, of Butler, Pa.;
a sister, Charlene Mae (Claypoole) Perine and husband, Rich, of Worthington; and
six grandchildren, Lauren, Marshall, Garrett, Natalie, Braden and Charleigh.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, and 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, in
Worthington.

A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Visitation
continues from 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, until the time of services at 11 a.m.
in Franklin Union Baptist Church, Worthington, Pa., with Pastor Scott Jones
officiating. 

Interment will be in Franklin Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.
