Nicholas Eugene Nickleach
Nicholas Eugene Nickleach, 69, of Butler, died unexpectedly Monday, November 21,
2011, at the Butler Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.
He was born June 13, 1942, in Cadogan, a son of Nicholas and Iasbelle (Yockey)
Nickleach, of Worthington.
He was a 1960 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.
Nick had graduated from the Police Academy at Albuquerque, N.M., and had been a
police officer and fugitive detective there until retiring and returning to this
area in the early 1980s. He then worked as a security guard and for six years
and was a service manager at the Butler County Ford dealership until 1988.
Unfortunately in 1990, health problems caused him to become disabled.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Meridian and a veteran of the
Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, was a life member of VFW Post 249, a member
of American Legion Post 117, the Butler Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge 64, all in
Butler. Nick was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed golf, traveling,
shooting pool and casino trips.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Barbara Zavacky Nickleach, they married Nov.
14, 1983; two children, Nicholas J. Nickleach and his wife, Dawn, of Butler, and
Kristie Eury, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a brother, James Nickleach, of Marienville;
two sisters, Linda Likens, and her husband, Dennis, of Mars, and Pam Nickleach,
of Worthington; and three sisters-in-law, Dolores (Greg) Haughey, of Meridian,
Rose (Victor) Green, of Evans City, and Christina (Jerome) Green, of Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Nickleach on Oct. 27, 2011; and by
his parents.
There will no visitation. A memorial service will be planned and announced at a
later date.
Interment in North Side Cemetery, Butler, Pa.
Memorial donations can be directed to his family at their home.
Cremation services were provided by Geibel Funeral Home, Butler, Pa.
