Linda Jane Bundy Smith
Linda Jane Bundy Smith of Bruington, VA, passed away on September 9, 2021.
She was born October 8, 1942, in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and was one of
fourteen children of the late Mildred Catherine (Claypoole) and William Walter
Bundy.
She was a 1960 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
PA.
Linda was a very faithful servant of God and a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother. She always put others before herself.
Linda enjoyed baking (but so much cooking), teaching Sunday School, fellowship
with her church families through the years, crocheting, watching hummingbirds
and deer from the windows or the porch, and writing poetry, much of which was
written to praise God or to honor or uplift a friend or loved one.
She also loved gospel and country music and especially loved babies, often
babysitting when she was able. She had a baby radar that would go off if she
came within 100 feet of one in public and would approach with no second thought
so she could get a better look and hold the baby if allowed.
She was so full of love and affection. She will be remembered by so many for
the love and care she so willingly gave, the joy in her eyes and awe in her
voice when she spoke of God's love and grace, and all the delicious bread, buns,
pies, cakes, cookies, and puddings she made and shared throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart P. Smith of Bruington, VA., and their
four children, Kevin Smith of Salem, NH, Kerry Smith of Bruington, VA, Karla
(Thomas) Valdez of McDade, TX, Karl (Jody) Smith of Mechanicsville, VA,
grandchildren Jessica Smith of Bruington, VA, Brenna Smith of Ashland, VA, Logan
Smith of Salem NH, William Geer of McDade, TX, Rachel Geer of Portland, OR, Noah
Smith and Gavin Parker Smith both of Mechanicsville, VA, two
great-grandchildren, nine siblings, Gladys Abernathey, Harold (Penny) Bundy,
Nancy Croyle, Dorothy (Duane) Braughler, Joseph (Marie) Bundy, James (Carol)
Bundy, Robert (Sherry) Bundy, Karen (Thomas Robb) Bundy-Robb and William
(Marion) Bundy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Willard
(Ruth) Bundy, Claire (William) Hindley, Lois Mathewson, and a baby brother.
Linda was cremated by Bennett Funeral home in Mechanicsville, VA. |
