William Franklin Smith

Dr. William Franklin Smith, Ph.D., 73, of Johnstown died Friday, August 21,
2015, at Rosewood Personal Care Home.

He was born September 4, 1941, in Worthington, son of the late Merle W. and
Margaret R. (Burke) Smith.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa. 

He received his Ph.D., having graduated from Alderson Broaddus University, Kent
State University and the University of Pittsburgh.

He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. 

He retired as an associate professor of political science at UPJ.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth I. (Hill) Smith; and
one niece, Beth Ann Becker.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine J. Parks and her husband, Kenneth Jr.;
his grandchildren, Ashley L. Swartz and her husband, Jeremiah, and Kenneth J.
Parks III; his great-grandchildren, Cecil Swartz and Eisley Swartz; his sisters,
Janet E. Doverspike and her husband, John, and Louise P. Rosenberger and her
husband, Glen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends of Dr. William F. Smith, who died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, will be
received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Henderson Funeral Home East
Hills, 2503 Bedford St., Johnstown, where funeral services will be held on
Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Dunn officiating.

Interment will be in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, Pa.
