Larry Brett Collar
Larry Brett Collar, 71, of Cabot, Pa., formerly of Kittanning, Pa., passed away
peacefully Sunday, June 24, 2012, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born March 6, 1941, in Kittanning, Pa., a son of the late Richard Glenn
and Charlotte Avonel (Shankle) Collar.
He was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in
Kittanning.
He graduated in 1959 from Worthington High School, Worthington, Pa. and Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa., in 1963. He earned his first master's
degree from Clarion University, Clarion, Pa., and a
second master's degree from Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.
He taught first in the Daniel Boone School District, Birdsboro, Pa. and
completed his career in Armstrong School District, Kittanning.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara. He is also survived by the mother
of his children, (Twyla Jean (Peters) Wilinski of Missouri. Father of Larry Alan
(Kim) Collar, of Arizona, Valerie Jean (Gary Merkel), of St Louis, Ill, Brian
Scott Collar of Missouri and Gail Lynn (Cory) Inman of Missouri; and brother of
Gary Dennis (Sue) Collar, Donald Paul (Bonnie) Collar, of Freeport, Pa.; sister
Susan (Susie) Jane (Dave) Jack of Venice, Florida. He is also survived by
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary, Our Lady of
Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church, Kittanning, with Father Dan Blout as
celebrant.
