John Paul Kolar
John Paul Kolar, 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, October 10,
2014, at his home in Girard, Oh.
John was born August 18, 1940, in Pennsylvania, a son of the late Vinko and Mary
(Peterson) Kolar, and came to this area with his family as a child.
He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.
He was a graduate of North High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He
subsequently worked for 36 years at the U.S. Post Office in Youngstown, retiring
in 1998.
Mr. Kolar was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.
He was the secretary of the Youngstown Men's Garden Club, and was a member of
the Youngstown State University Penguin Club.
John loved to tailgate at YSU football games, and he was an avid golfer.
John leaves his wife, Cathryn Anderson Kolar, whom he married Aug. 17, 1968; two
daughters, Colleen (Steve) Diaz of Macedonia and Jennifer Kolar (fiance Brian
Vrtachnik) of Parma; a brother, Robert (Rae) Kolar of Canfield; a
brother-in-law, Russell Barbor of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his paretns he was predeceased by a brother, Jack, and a sister,
Ann Katherine Barbor.
Private services will be held at a later date.
