William Richard Beers JR

William Richard "Dick" Beers, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2021, in
Spokane, WA, with his loving family at his side.

He was born on March 7, 1940, in Worthington, PA, to William and Dorothy
(Troutner) Beers, Sr.

Dick grew up in the small mining town of Worthington, where he attended
Worthington-West Franklin High School until he moved to New Castle,
Pennsylvania, and graduated from Jackson Knoll High School with the class of
1958.

During his high school years, Dick was a band member and played the catcher
position for their baseball team.

After graduating high school, Dick enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard. While
stationed in New London, CT, he met Paule Veglio, who was visiting from France.
The two became married on July 20, 1963, in New London and soon began a family.
As many military families do, Dick and Paule moved quite often to new duty
stations. They welcomed three wonderful children into their family, Sally,
John, and Nathalie. One of Dick’s most memorable deployments was on the Big
Island of Hawaii, where he was the Commanding Officer of the Loran Station. He
retired from the Coast Guard in Seattle, Washington.

Being a Pennsylvania native, Dick was a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan, which he
passed on to his grandsons.

Retirement brought Dick and Paule to Republic, Washington in 1999, where he
enjoyed hunting and fishing in the beauty that is Northeast Washington. He
belonged to many associations, one of his favorite was the Curlew Lake
Association.

Dick will be sorely missed by all having the honor to know him best.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Paule; son, John and Linda
Beers; daughters, Sally Beers and Nathalie Beers; 4 grandchildren, Jack, Lauren,
Nicholas, and Ashley.

He was predeceased by his parents.
