Janet Marlene Peat Hooks

Janet Marlene Peat Hooks, 83, of Worthington, passed away peacefully Saturday,
August 27, 2022, at Sugar Creek Rest Skilled Care in Worthington.

She was born February 7, 1939, in Worthington, a daughter of the late Oran and
Elsie Faye (Guthrie) Peat.

She attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, PA.

Janet was married 61 years to Chauncey Y. Hooks, they were wed on March 28,
1959. Together they traveled the world, raising their family, while he was
serving in the U.S. Army. After his retirement, they continued to travel.

Janet started the Worthington Gameroom on Main Street, and together with
Chauncey started the Worthington Market in the early 80s. They made thousands of
hoagies for fundraisers, and many hundreds for daily sales. Together with her
sister Jean, they also started Worthington Pizza and more.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Dan) Turberville, of Worthington
and Andrea (James) McDonald and family, of Pensacola, Fla.; son, Chauncey, Jr.
(Carisa) Hooks, of Marshall, N.C.; grandchildren: Lauren Webb, Marie and Eli
Hooks, Braden Turberville and Brittany (Truman) Wyatt; one great-granddaughter,
Sarah Grace Webb; and sister, Jean M. Leech, of Fenelton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey
Y. Hooks, Sr. on March 12, 2020; and brothers: Robert, Richard, Chalmer, James,
Harland, Edward and Thomas. 

Services are private and entrusted to the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in
Worthington, PA.
