James Arthur Black  

STC James Arthur Black, US Navy (Ret), 71, of Summerville, SC, died Thursday,
February 25, 2010, in a local hospital. 

Born December 19, 1938, in Young Township, PA, he was one of nine children of
Arthur Glen Black and Theda (McManus) Black.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School. 

He served more than 23 years in the US Navy and retired as a Chief Sonar
Technician. 

He also retired from Monroe County School District in Key Largo, FL. 

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve and American Legion Post 166. He was a
member of the Masons, Hammerton Lodge # 332, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of
Charleston, SC. 

Mr. Black is survived by his children, Bonnie Irene Black of Memphis, TN and
Andrew James Black and his wife Adele B. Black of Osceola, AR; grandchildren:
Nicole Fridley-Willavize and her husband Greg S. Willavize of Battle Creek, MI,
Jessica A. Black of Greenville, SC, Kaitlyn N. Black of Leesport, PA, Candice I
Black of Battle Creek, MI, Victoria A. Black and Travis J. Black both of Orange,
TX; great-grandchildren: Taylor Rivera-Fridley, Haley Hanson-Fridley, Alexa R.
Willavize, Ki H.N. Wilson and Evelyn C. Wilson all of Battle Creek, MI; sisters,
Ruth Alwine, Louise king, Maxine Mullins, Nadine Szul and Frances Cessna, and
one brother, Alan. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Irene Vermillion Black and Irene
Dyette Black; son, Glen Travis Black; great-grandson, Brycen Scott Willavize;
and two brothers, William and Paul Black. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 27, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR,
INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and
will include the rendering of military honors and Masonic Rites.
