Robert Irwin Nichol

Robert Irwin Nichol Sr., 67, of Slate Lick, Freeport, died Tuesday, October 31,
2006, in Las Vegas, Nev. 

Born May 12, 1939, in Worthington, he was the son of the late Omer W. and Ethel
L. (Shearer) Nichol. 

Mr. Nichol graduated from Worthington High School in 1957 and Clarion State
Teachers College in 1961 and continued his graduate studies at Indiana State
University in Terra Haute, Ind., and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan.


Prior to retiring in 1991, he was a middle school mathematics teacher for the
Apollo Ridge School District. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd
Fellow, Freeport Lodge, Kit-han-ne Rock and Gem Club, U.S. International Muzzle
Loading Team, North Buffalo Sportsmen Club, and the owner of Bob's Agates. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Omer
William "Bill" Nichol; infant sister, Bessie Mae; paternal grandparents, Herbert
and Cora Nichol; maternal grandparents, Albert and Bessie Shearer. 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ilene (Crosson) Nichol, whom he married
on Nov. 8, 1958; daughter, Robin (husband, Patrick) Ritrosky, of Kittanning;
son, Robert (wife, Kimberly) Nichol Jr., of Sarver; brother, James (Dorothy)
Nichol, of Eighty Four; sister, Barbara Hollinger, of Calabash, N.C.;
granddaughters, Ashlee (Ritrosky) Strawcutter, Crystal (Ritrosky) Truitt,
Tabbatha Ritrosky, Sarah Ritrosky, Jocelyn Nichol and Alyssa Nichol; grandsons,
Levi Ritrosky and Chandler Nichol. Also survived by numerous uncles, aunts,
nephews, nieces and cousins. 

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the F.
DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Additional visitation from
12:30 until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, with
Pastor Mike Greiner, officiating. 

Interment in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.
