Gladys Ruth Crissman Lewis

Gladys Ruth Lewis Adrian Gladys Ruth (Crissman) Lewis, 73, of Adrian, passed
away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at her home surrounded by family. 

She was born June 15, 1939, in Washington Township, a daughter of the late
Albert and Elizabeth (Bowser) Crissman. 

Gladys had an unwavering faith in God. She was a lifelong member of Brush Valley
Brethren Church and served as a deaconess, board member, Sunday school and bible
school teacher and leader of the Women's Missionary Service (WMS). She devoted
her life to the Lord, her extensive family and selflessly serving others. 

Gladys was a 1957 graduate of Worthington High School and was employed for 23
years by Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She made "service with a
smile" a reality for all those who came to enjoy her cooking at the snack bar. 

Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 51 years, Fred B.
Lewis Jr.; daughter, Susan (Bob) Egley, of Kittanning; son, Fred (Carly) Lewis,
of Nokesville, Va.; son, Wes (Julie) Lewis, of Vinco, Pa.; and daughter, Beth
(Greg) Brown, of Adrian. She was also adored by her seven grandchildren, Michael
Egley, of Shadyside, Danielle (Jonathan) Morley, of Nottingham, United Kingdom,
Noah Lewis, of Richmond, Va., Zachary Brown, of Adrian, Cody Lewis, of
Nokesville, Va., Maggie Lewis, of Vinco, Pa., and Emily Brown, of Adrian. Gladys
is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Goldie (Corbin) Jack, of
Shelocta, Esther Hogenmiller, of Adrian, and Walde (Lois) Crissman, of Ford
City. Gladys is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Dawn Gettinger, Sarah
(Carl) Croyle and Ann (Jerry) Tarr, all of Adrian. Gladys was also loved by
numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. 

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her father and
mother-in-law, Fred Sr. and Alma Lewis; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Hogenmiller
and Matt Gettinger. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the
SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville and from 10 until the time of
service at 11 a.m. Friday in Brush Valley Brethren Church with the Rev. Vincent
Edwin officiating. 

Interment at the Brush Valley Brethren Church Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to
Brush Valley Brethren Church. Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.
