William Edgar Bowser 

William Edgar Bowser, 61 of 419 Golf Ave in Ellport died at 10:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at his residence following a two year illness.

He was born July 12, 1939 in Worthington, PA to Edgar E Bowser of Worthington
and Katherine Elizabeth (Dickey) Hicks of Sedro Woolley, Washington.

He was married July 11, 1959 to Joan Nye Bowser, who survives.

He was an active member of both the Elks and Lions Clubs.  

Mr. Bowser was employed by the Ellport Borough where he ran the sewage treatment
facility.  He formerly was plant manager at the Ellwood City Knitting Mills from
1972 to 1976 and worked for Meyers Sanitary from 1976 to 1996.  

He graduated from Worthington West Franklin High School in 1957.  He was a
member of the National Guard for six months and was with the reserves for four
years.  

Presbyterian by faith, he was a past Exalted Ruler of the Ellwood City Elks
Lodge, was the current President of the Riverside Lions Club, and belonged to
the Ellwood City Moose Lodge No. 93.  He also served as past President of the
Ellwood City Jaycees and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Waynesburg Lodge.  

He enjoyed camping and ATV riding.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by two sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Lorrin Bowser of Cranberry Township and Kevin
and Jennifer Bowser of Ellwood City: a daughter and son-in-law, Carole and David
Barton of Richmond, WA; two brothers, Terry E. Bowser and his wife Dolores of
Sedro Woolley, WA and James Whitesell and his wife Dena of Illinois; and five
grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha and Matthew Bowser and Alyssa and Brianna
Barton.  

He was preceded in death by a son, William Bowser in infancy.
