Barbara Louise Sherry
Barbara Louise Sherry, 85, formerly of Worthington, went home to be with the
Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Sinking Spring Nursing Home in Reading,
Pa.
She was born May 17, 1938, in Worthington, a daughter of George and Grace
(Bowser) Sherry.
After graduating from Worthington-West Franklin High School in 1956, she
attended Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio, and Indiana State University in
Indiana, Pa.
Her life was dedicated to Christian education.
She worked at the Christian Bookstore in Kittanning, taught at Miller Road
Christian School in Garland, Texas, Pensacola Christian School in Florida, and
Bethel Baptist School in Warren, Ohio, and also was the assistant librarian at
Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland for several years.
Upon retirement, she moved to Lancaster, Pa.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Janice, and husband, Joe Monte.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Grace Sherry; sister and
husband, Carolyn (Sherry) and Carl Bowser; and niece, Julie Monte.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at F. Duane
Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington, Pa. Additional viewing will be
held in the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral
service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hindman officiating.
Burial will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to Berean Bible
Church Missionary Fund, 675 Lincoln Garden Rd., Ephrata, Pa. 17522.
