Bonnie Kaye Cousins Broetzman
Bonnie Kaye Cousins Broetzman passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 6,
2023.
She was born September 22, 1938, the daughter of Ralph and Aida (Simpson)
Cousins, and grew up in Worthington, PA. Bonnie landed in Colorado in the late
1960’s.
She was a 1956 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School in Worthington,
PA.
She was 85 years old. Bonnie was the beloved wife of Gary Broetzman for 35
years.
Bonnie and Gary moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1999, where they were active
within many organizations in the area.
In particular, Bonnie loved singing and live concerts and was the treasurer for
the local Community Concerts Association for many years, sang with the Aspen
Chorale Society, and was active as a member of the United Methodist Church in
Glenwood Springs.
Bonnie loved to travel; she and Gary were able to enjoy many incredible trips
throughout the world during their retirement.
She was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed regular walks along the Roaring Fork and
Colorado Rivers.
She will be remembered as a kind, beautiful lady who was always lending a hand
to those less fortunate than her. She had a zest for life & adventure, faith in
God, and a deep love for her family and friends.
Bonnie had a very successful career as a General Manager in the Construction
industry that spanned several decades.
Bonnie is survived by two older brothers Robert and Fred Cousins both residing
in Pennsylvania; her husband Gary Broetzman; her daughter Kelli-Jean Thompson of
Argyle, TX; stepdaughters Karen DeJiacomo of Big Canoe, GA; Beth Leifheit of
Yuma, CO & step son Jeff Broetzman of Westminster, CO; along with several
beautiful grandchildren, grand animals, and great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of Bonnie’s life on February 17, 2024, at the
Glenwood Springs United Methodist Church where Bonnie and her husband were
active.
