Darlyne Elnora Yockey Hughes

Darlyne Elnora (Yockey) Hughes, 77, of Butler, Pa., passed away at 2 a.m.
Friday, February 28, 2014, at the UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
She was born March 23, 1936, in Worthington, Pa. to the late Ralph Yockey and
Florence (Baker) Yockey.
 
She was a 1954 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.
 
Mrs. Hughes previously worked in the credit office of the former Montgomery Ward
in Butler.
 
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Butler, where she was a
member of the Berean Sunday School class. Mrs. Hughes was a former choir member,
church secretary and was involved in the Woman's Missionary Fellowship. Darlyne
and her husband were involved in the weekly ministry at the Mercer County
Prison. She also enjoyed camping.
 
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Hughes, who she married June
18, 1955; three sons, David E. Hughes and his wife, Donna Marie, of Denver,
Colo., Mark T. Hughes and his wife, Joanne K., of Butler and Timothy L. Hughes
and his wife, Elisa J., of Winter Garden, Fla.; a son-in-law, David A. Grooms
and his wife, Michele R., of Meridian, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Ralph "Poncho" Yockey and his wife,
Bernice, of Kittanning, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon L.
(Hughes) Grooms.
 
The friends of Darlyne Elnora (Yockey) Hughes, 77, of Butler, Pa., who passed
away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday
at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services
will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St.,
Butler, with Pastor David Maitland, Pastor Todd Wentworth and Pastor Sam
McNamara officiating.
 
Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler, Pa. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist
Christian School, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
