Robert Gerald Smith
Robert Gerald Smith, 86, of Worthington, passed away on Wednesday, September 15,
2021.
He was born on June 11, 1935, in West Franklin Twp., to Herbert E. and Beatrice
(Bowser) Smith.
He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, PA.
Gerald honorably served in the U.S. Army.
He retired in 1998 from Bell Transit where he worked as a long distance truck
driver.
Gerald was a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening and
loved hunting and fishing.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Judith A. "Judy" (Coggon)
Smith, who he married on Aug. 28, 1959; two daughters, Kimberly Sue Smith and
companion, Roy Yockey of Cowansville and Susan Elaine Close and husband, Joseph
of Worthington; grandchildren, Alexandra Coggon, Liam Doms, Dominic Close and
wife, Amanda, and Emily Close; and great-grandchildren, Ava and Harper Close,
Kayson Trudgen and Bailey Close.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Joseph "Jerad" Close; a
great-grandson, Daxton Close; and a brother, Herbert C. Smith.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 10 AM
until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM at the Worthington United
Presbyterian Church, 197 Linton Alley, Worthington, PA with Rev. Robert F.
Hindman officiating.
Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.
