Carl Allen Smith SR

Carl Allen Smith, 53, of Worthington R.D. 1 died Sunday, May 28, 1989, in the
emergency room of Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning.

Born June 16, 1935, in West Franklin Township, he was the son of Benjamin F. and
Dorothy June (Shay) Smith.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School.

Mr. Smith was employed by the Kent Coal Company as a drag-line operator and a
high wall miner operator.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of American Union 3548, the Operating
Engineers Union 66, and the Buffalo Valley Beagle Club.

Surviving are his wife, Carol (Holmes) Smith whom he married Nov. 9, 1956, a
son, Carl A. Smith Jr. of Worthington R.D. 1, a daughter, Marci Smith of
Pittsburgh, two brothers, Earl F. Smith of Butler and Wayne of Worthington R.D.
1; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Esther I.) Neupert of Worthington R.D. 1 and Mrs.
Joseph (Ruth J.) Gaggini of Cowansville.

An infant brother and sister preceded him in death.

Friends of Carl Smith of Worthington R.D. 1, who died Sunday, May 28, 1989, will
be received at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, Worthington, from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Thursday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Earl Watterson, pastor of the
Chicora United Methodist Church, officiating. 

Burial will be in Worthington Presbyterian Dcemetery, Worthington, Pa.
