Delmer Dean Ruth

Delmer Dean Ruth, 84, of South Connellsville, formerly of Butler, passed away
peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2017, while surrounded by his loving wife and
family.

He was born October 21, 1932, in Worthington, Armstrong County, a son of the
late Harry A. and Kathryn L. (Gaiser) Ruth.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

Dean loved dogs. Earlier in his life, he raised Chihuahuas and participated in
dog shows over much of western Pennsylvania. 

He also played country music on his guitar and mandolin. He had a part time
business, "Ruth's Woodcraft", making and selling at flea markets, craft shows
and a booth at a retail store in Volant.

In the late 1950s and '60s, he raced motorcycles in all classes. He also enjoyed
riding on the road and earned a special award from Harley-Davidson for riding
25,000 miles in one year. 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending many enjoyable days at the family
camp near Penfield, Clearfield County. 

After retirement, they traveled in a motor home to almost every state, spending
winters in the warm weather of various southern states.

Dean will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife, Jennie M.
Bauer Lawver Ruth; his son, David A. Ruth of Pittsburgh; a step-daughter,
Beverly Polyblank of Connellsville; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Polyblank of
Mt. Pleasant and Anna Boal and husband Nathan of Youngwood; a brother, Dale Ruth
of Fenelton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dean was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Evelyn
Donaldson Ruth; and his sisters, Erma Riddle and Glee Hutchison.

As per Dean's request there will be no public visitation. A memorial service
will be held for the family at a later date.
