Wayne Frederick Porter

Wayne Frederick Porter, 85, of the McVille section of South Buffalo Township,
passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, peacefully at his home.

Wayne was born in the Yellow Dog section of Worthington on August 4, 1933. He
was a son of the late Estella (Heasley) and Faye Porter.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

Wayne served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his
service to his country, he came home and took a job at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in
Brackenridge. He worked as a crane operator in the transportation and yard
department for nearly 40 years and retired in 1994.

Wayne and his family were past members of the now-closed Rogers Chapel in South
Buffalo Township.

Wayne was an amateur pilot who enjoyed flying in his younger years.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on cars, working on home projects,
growing different types of plants, and collecting clocks.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Esther H. (Hartman) Porter; son,
Kenneth W. Porter, of South Buffalo Township; four daughters, Susan E. & Robert
Lipinski, of Clinton Township, Paula J. & Gary Diller, of Cabot, Sally D.
Cannon, of Freeport, and Gretchen L. & Paul Asay, of South Buffalo Township; as
well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon,
Clarence and Ralph, and one sister, Edith Benton.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, from 2-4 & 6-8
p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St. in Freeport, Pa.

Funeral service will be held in the funeral home following the visitation at
8:00 p.m., on Wednesday Jan. 2, with Rev. Brenda Sommerville Schall
officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Life Choices 15A
Franklin Village Mall Kittanning, Pa. 16201.
