Herbert Charles Smith
Herbert Charles Smith, 76, of Worthington, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, at
home.
He was born July 12, 1932, in Worthington to the late Herbert E. and Beatrice
(Bowser) Smith and was a lifelong community resident.
He was a 1951 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa
Mr. Smith was a maintenance supervisor for Moonlight Mushrooms before retiring
in 1998 and a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church, Kittanning-East Brady
Masonic Lodge 244 and the Coudersport Consistory.
He loved spending time with his family and grandkids and enjoyed hunting,
trapping, spending time at camp and his John Deere tractors.
Husband of Mary (McGrady) Smith. Father of Chuck (Laurie) and Jeff (Jackie)
Smith, of Worthington, and Sandy (Rick) Merryman, of Slate Lick. Grandfather of
Dave, Melissa, and Larry Smith, Carrie and Cassie Merryman, Dawn (Greg) Toy and
Chan (Gary) Holback. Great-grandfather of Cameron and Spencer Toy and Brendan
Smith. Brother of Gerald (Judy) Smith, of Worthington. Also survived by numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful and loving husband of 57 years and a loving and caring father
and grandfather. The family is honoring Herbie's wishes that the viewing and
funeral service, with the Rev. Jon Speck, his pastor, be private.
Interment in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.
