Edward Charles Roofner

Edward Charles "Buster" Roofner, 86, of Kittanning went to be with his Lord and
Savior on Friday, June 23, 2017, at home.

He was born Feb.13, 1931, in Worthington to the late Frank W. and Mary Ellen
(Brown) Roofner.

He worked at Pullman Standard in Butler until joining the Boilermakers Local 154
in 1962, until retiring March 1, 1993, receiving his 50-year pin last month.

A deeply religious man of Faith, whom never missed an opportunity to spread the
word of God, he lived for the Lord and led by example.

Ed was a member of and usher at Worthington Baptist Church, where he taught
men's Sunday school class for many years. He enjoyed sharing the Lord's word
everywhere he went.

He attended Worthington West-Franklin High School, class of 1949. 

A charter member of the Hilltop Antique Tractor Pullers Association of
Worthington, he enjoyed watching and pulling his Massey 44, which he built. He
was a member of the Allegheny Rifle League and enjoyed competition target
shooting, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA.

His other enjoyments in life were watching boxing and tractor pull videos.

Later in life, Ed enjoyed meeting up with his friends at McDonald's, Wendy's,
and Walmart regularly and sitting on the porch with his pets "Buddy" and "Tom."

Survivors include one daughter, Loraine J. (Robert) Everhart of Kittanning;
three sons, David E. Roofner of Kittanning, Duane G. (Kathy) Roofner of
Worthington, and Brian N. Roofner of Oakmont; 10 grandchildren, Sherry (Dandy)
Gadley, Kristen Roofner, Robbi (Shawn) Young, Wendy (Kriss) Simmons, Melissa
(David) Gawne, Marion (Chris) Seavers, Derek Roofner, Wesley Everhart, Megan
(Jon) Allison, and Aryn Roofner; 13 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brandon
Gadley, Cameron and Emerson Smith, Dalton and Lexie Young, Jonathan Seavers,
Kallie and Alyssa Simmons, Elliot and Rory Gawne, Silas and Ira Allison; one
sister, Janet (Dick) Keener of Sarver; one brother, Carl F. (Vivian) Roofner of
Worthington; and two sisters in-law, Agnes Roofner of Waynesburg and Della
McHaddon of Kittanning.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A.
(Johns) Roofner, who died Jan. 2, 2013. They were married Feb. 13, 1950, in
Winchester, Va. and were married for 62 years. Also preceding him in death was
his daughter, Ellen Roofner; his sisters, Emma Smith, Alice Dezort, Vera White,
and Iola Maude Anker, and his brother, Robert Roofner.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the F. Duane
Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Additional viewing will be held
from 10 a.m. Monday until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Worthington
Baptist Church, 327 E. Ross St., with the Rev. Richard Buchanan officiating. 

Interment will be at West Glade Run Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's memory to the
Hilltop Antique Tractor Pullers Association, 153 Gameland Road, Worthington, Pa.
