Robert Francis Harkless
Robert Francis Harkless, 84, of Tionesta, Pa., died Wednesday, October 16, 2013,
in Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler, Pa.
He was born July 8, 1929, in West Franklin Township (Armstrong County, Pa.), son
of the late Francis Harkless and Margaret (Armstrong) Harkless.
He attended Worthington-West Franklin School, Worthington, Pa.
He was a retired Navy veteran of 30 years, serving in World War II, retiring in
1976. He was a very proud Navy vet. He also retired from Joy Manufacturing in
Warren, Pa. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tionesta. He also
attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, Pa. He was a member of
Fryburg Sportsman's Club in Fryburg, Pa., the VFW, Eagles and Elks in Oil City,
Pa.
Surviving include his daughters, Candice L. Shotts, of Rural Valley, Pa.,
Yolanda "Londie" S. (Ronald A.) McWilliams, of Tionesta, Helen and Annie and son
James, of Philadelphia, Pa.; God son, Joe (Jill) Scarderry, of Boyertown, Pa.;
several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; girlfriend, Lovella Leone, of
Franklin, Pa.; nephews, Rick L. Fennell, of McGrann, Pa., Doug L. Fennell, of
Emlenton, Pa., and Brian K. Harkless, Englewood, Ohio; niece, Judith T. Nicholl,
Piqua, Ohio; close cousin, William W. (Julie) Harkless, of Worthington; and
sister-in-law, Shirley Harkless of Sarver, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his father Francis and his mother, Margaret
(Armstrong) Harkless Shunk; his first wife, Carolyn Harkless; an infant brother,
William Harkless; brother, Donald Dale Harkless; sister, Ila Maxine Fennell
Hasness; son-in-law, Richard E. Shotts; and a brother-in-law, Hugh H. Hasness.
Friends will be received from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
Friday, October 18, 2013, at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning,
Pa., with Pastor Sam Wagner, Associate Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church
in Franklin.
Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery, Templeton, Pa.
