Ralph Edwin Porter SR
 
Ralph Edwin Porter, Sr., 68, of Darlington, died Wednesday, December 10, 1997,
in The Medical Center, Beaver.
 
Born March 19, 1929, in Medford, Ore., a son of the late Clarence Fay and
Estella (Heasley) Irwin Porter.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.
 
He retired with 34 years of service from the former St. Joe Lead, currently
known as Zinc Corp. of America, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II,
serving on the U.S.S. Aucilla as a fireman, 2nd Class. Ralph also received the
World War II Victory Medal; was a member of Darlington Reformed Presbyterian
Church, where he served as a deacon, and a member of the Darlington Historical
Society.
 
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy, whom he married on Nov. 26,
1948; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph E. Jr. and Maureen Porter, San Jose,
Calif., and Frank A. and Maria Porter, North Plains, Ore.; two daughters and one
son-in-law, Amy J. and Kevin Marshall, Greenville, Pa., and Faye C. Porter,
Aliquippa; nine beloved grandchildren;  half-brother, Leon F. Irwin, in Florida;
brothers, C. William Porter, Butler, and Wayne F. Porter, Freeport, and a
half-sister, Edith Pauline Benton, in Florida.
 
Friends will be received today, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday
from 9 to 11 a.m. in Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, 2618 Darlington Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Darlington Reformed
Presbyterian Church, 140 First Street, Darlington, with his pastor, the Rev.
Jeff C. Noyes, officiating.
 
A private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills  Memorial Park, Rochester,
Pa.
