Wayne Max Bowser

Wayne Max Bowser, 84, of Oil City, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in the
Presbyterian Home of Oil City. 

Born June 14, 1926, in Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Rayburn and
Florence (Claypool) Bowser. 

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.  

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy as a seaman first class,
aboard the USS Renate, which supported combat operations throughout the Pacific
Theater. 

He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Seneca. 

Mr. Bowser enjoyed lawn mowing and performing vehicle repairs. He was employed
in the maintenance department for Cranberry Township, Venango County for many
years. 

He was married Feb. 7, 1947, in Worthington, to Eleanor S. Clowes, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Victor W. Bowser and wife, Sally, of
Titusville, Russell L. Bowser, of Oil City, and Loretta A. Beach and her
husband, Michael, of Oil City; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and
three brothers, Carl, Frank and Roy Bowser, all of Armstrong County. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Bowser;
three brothers, Glenn, Ken and Clarence Bowser; and grandson, Andrew Strouse. 

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the HILE-BEST FUNERAL HOME
INC., 2781 Route 257, Seneca, Cranberry Township. Visitation will also be held
from 10 until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Earl
Shawley, former pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Full military
honors will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard immediately following funeral
services. 

Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Seneca, Pa.
