Dorothy Irene Smith Caylor

Dorothy Irene Smith Caylor, 78, of 2 Gordon Court, Alexandria Bay, died Monday,
July 3, 2006, at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where she had been a patient
since June 13.

Born January 29, 1928 in New Castle, Pa., daughter of Howard F. and Irene
(Grafton) Smith. 

She graduated from Worthington-West Franklin High School in 1946, and attended
switchboard school in Kittanning, Pa. following graduation. 

She married Lee E. Caylor, Nov. 23, 1946 in Evans City, Pa. The marriage ended
in divorce.

Ms. Caylor worked at several area restaurants including the Royal Manor,
Riveredge Resort, Chez Paris and Rondette as a cook and server and later for the
Alexandria Bay Laundromat until her retirement in October 2004.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active on many
committees including the United Methodist Women. She was known for crocheting
hundreds of hats, scarves and afghans which she donated to people in need. She
enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Stephen and Linda Caylor,
Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Kevin Good,
Portland, Ore., and Jody and Rick Beerman, Alexandria Bay; two brothers, H.
Eugene, Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert H., McKees Rock, Pa.; two sisters, Verna R.
Boone, Las Vegas, Nev., and Alice A. Baldoff, Kingman, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Lynn Caylor in 1992.

A memorial service was scheduled for Wednesday, July 5 at 2 p.m. at the United
Methodist Church in Alexandria Bay, with the Rev. Helen Beck officiating. 

Burial will be at Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay, NY.
