Charles Arnold Toy

Charles Arnold Toy Charles Arnold Toy, 91, of Worthington died Wednesday, August
9, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

He was born on November 1, 1925, in East Franklin Township, to the late Charles
and Arvella (Black) Toy.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

He retired from Eljer Company in Ford City.

Charles was an U.S. Naval veteran who served in World War II, where he was a
Gunner's Mate Third Class, serving on the SS Falmouth, SS Wallowa, and SS Paul
Chandler, and was eventually stationed at Pearl Harbor, earning the American
Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Worthington Baptist Church and the Worthington American
Legion.

He enjoyed mowing his grass, going to camp, and reloading shells. Formerly, he
owned Toy's Gun Shop.

Survivors include two sons, Harold "Tiger"(Janet) Toy, of Worthington and Arnold
(Suk) Toy, of Marysville, Ohio; two daughters, Sue (Donald) Smeltzer and Cara
(Jimmy) Wolfe, all of Worthington; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca, Janelle, Clint,
Wanda, Sylvia, Shannon, Jennifer, Christy, Cathy, and Melinda; 10
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean (Theresa) Toy and Howard (Jean) Toy; and
one sister Esther (David) Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Shirley (Wyant) Toy, who died
in 2013; his parents; his step mother, Ella Toy; one brother, Robert Toy; and an
infant grandson.

Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral
Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11
a.m. in the Worthington Baptist Church, 327 E. Ross St., where there will be
additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with the Rev.
Richard Buchanan officiating. 

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
