Howard Louis Smith

Howard Louis Smith, 57, died Saturday, December 29, 1984 at Redington Fairview
Hospital, Skowhegan, Maine.

He was born July 25, 1927, in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, Pa., son of
Milton and Twila F. (Anderson) Smith.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School in Worthington, Pa. until his
junior year after which he served in the Navy from 1944 to 1948 during World War
II. After leaving the Navy, he was employed at the Dashon Veterans Hospital in
Butler, Pa.

He married Genie (Lane) Smith of Embden, Maine, on December 18, 1948 and has
resided in Embden since.

He was employed at Quimby's Veneer Company in Bingham, Maine, the Solon
Manufacturing Company, Solon, Maine and the North Anson Reel Co., North Anson,
Maine.

He was forced to retire in 1972 due to ill-health.

He was a former member of the Oddfellows of Solon and the Army-National Guard in
Skowhegan.

He is survived by his wife, Genie Smith of Embden; four sons, Richard E. Smith
and Robert E. Smith both of Embden, Ronald E. Smith of Anson, and Randall E.
Smith of Solon; his mother, Twila F. Wright of Ford City, Pa.; three brothers,
Richard Wendell Smith of Worthington, Melvin Ellsworth Smith of Sarver, Pa. and
Alan Dean Smith of Bessemer, Mich.; one sister, Janet Marie Stitt of Ford City.;
eight grandchildren; his step-mother, Hazel M. Smith of Kittanning, Pa.; one
step-brother, several step-sisters; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Smith; one brother Arthur McGill
Smith on April 15, 1956.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 1, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Partridge Funeral Home, Union Street, North Anson, Maine, where friends may call
today, December 31, 1984 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in the spring in the Sunset Cemetery in North Anson, Me.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in his memory
to the Maine Heart Association, P.O. Box 741, Augusta, Maine 04330.
