Earl Franklin Watterson
Earl Franklin Watterson, 93, of Worthington, died Monday, October 4, 2021, at
home with family attending.
He was born October 24, 1927, in Craigsville to the late Clarence and Mary
Elizabeth (Smith) Watterson.
He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, PA.
Earl was a retired United Methodist Minister he served in many churches the
Summerville, Oakridge, Kingsville, PA (UMC) from 1965-1971; Manorville, Rogers
Chapel, PA from 1971-1975 (UMC); Cochranton, Mumford, PA from 1975-1982 (UMC);
Younsgville (EUM) Evangelical United Methodist Church, PA 1982-1988; Chicora,
Karns City, Fairview, PA (UMC) 1988-1991; First United Methodist Church, Butler,
where he was the pastor of visitation from 1991-1995.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Franklin Union Baptist
Church.
Earl served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He enjoyed family time, travel, and woodworking.
Earl is survived by his spouse Barbara (Smith) Watterson of Worthington;
daughter Nancy (Gary) Shilling of Middleburg, FL; daughter Barbara (Chester)
Harris of Massillon, OH; son Robert Watterson of Manorville, PA; daughter Joyce
(Eric) Force of Kittanning, PA; daughter Sue (Prentice) West of Worthington, PA;
daughter Charlene (Wayne) Jackson of Martinez, GA; sister Malissa Emma Jean
Buzzard of Lees Summit, MO; 19 grand-children, 31 great-grand-children, 1
great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mary Watterson; wife Lena
Watterson and infant child; wife of 59 years Phyllis Watterson; daughter Brenda
Corp; brothers Eugene Watterson, Andrew Watterson, and Clarence Watterson;
sister Marjorie Morrison.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00
to 8:00 pm at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington. A funeral service
will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in the Franklin Union Baptist Church
at 11:00 AM with additional visitation from 10:00 am until the service with Rev.
Dr. Chester H. Harris, Rev. Gary Shilling, and Rev. Melanie Fierbaugh
officiating.
Interment is in the Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery, Worthington, PA.
Arrangements by F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, worthington, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Union
