Leonard George Gorsha

Leonard George Gorsha, 89, of New Kensington, died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at
Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot. 

He was born February 17, 1926, in Penn Hills, to the late Frank and Mary
(Swagger) Gorsha, and had lived in the local area most of his life.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.  

Leonard was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a PFC in central Europe
and the Rhineland, receiving a Purple Heart. 

He had been involved in real estate since 1962, owning rental properties
throughout the valley. He also worked as a steelworker and was a craneman at
Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation's Brackenridge works and had previously been
a lab technician for US Steel. 
Along with his sister he was co-owner of Suzanne's Fashions in Monroeville for
20 years. 

He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, the
Eagles, Moose, VFW and American Legion and he enjoyed hunting and traveling. 

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Jasiecki Gorsha; children,
Joseph (Nancy) Gorsha and Karen (Ali) Ghaffarkhan; granddaughter, Martha (Ryan)
Orzechowski and great-granddaughter, Sophia Orzechowski; and sisters, Clara
Oskin and Margaret (Michael) Migliozzi. 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, George Gorsha; a
brother, Clair Gorsha; and a sister, Anne McAdams.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the RUSIEWICZ OF
LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder St., Lower Burrell,
where parting prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by Christian
funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower
Burrell, with Father Kenneth A. Zaccagnini.

VFW services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by parish
wake services at 6:30 p.m. and American Legion services at 7 p.m. 

Burial with military honors by the Vandergrift Honor Guard will follow in St.
Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell, Pa.
