Clarence Eugene Claypoole

Clarence Eugene Claypoole, 74, of Cherokee Circle, Sanford, Fla.,
formerly of Worthington, died Monday, March 13, 2000 at Central Florida Regional
Hospital, Sanford.

He was born November 29, 1925 in Worthington to Clarence Rector and Zelda
(Cloak) Claypoole. 

Mr. Claypoole was employed as a truck driver.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa. 

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. A veteran he served in the
United States Navy. His memberships included the Masons, Moose and American
Legion.

He moved to central Florida in 1969. 

Survivors include his wife, Gladys A. (Johnson) Claypoole. They were married
March 5, 1945, in Armstrong County, Pa.; one son, Jim Claypoole of Sanford Fla.;
one daughter Lynda (Claypoole) Burgess of Sanford, Fla.; six grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Delores M. Hass and Anna Marie
Myers both of Adrian and Z. Eileen Hawk of Worthington. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends of Clarence Eugene Claypoole, 74, of Cherokee Circle , Sanford ,
Fla., formerly of Worthington, who died March 13, 2000, will be received from 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Baldwin-Fairchild-Oaklawn Park Cemetery and Funeral
Home, 5000 County Road, 46A Lake Mary, Fla., where funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Chapel. 

Interment will be in the Oaklawn Park Cemetery, Lake Mary, Fl.

1945: WW II - Navy Man Advanced:

Clarence Eugene Claypoole, 19, of Worthington, has been advanced to radioman,
third class, USNR. Claypoole is now serving on a destroyer of the Atlantic
Fleet, and he has seen previous service on a destroyer escort  also in the
Atlantic.

Claypoole, wears the American Theater ribbon and the European-African-Middle
Eastern ribbon, the latter with two combat stars denoting his participation in
the Normandy and Southern France invasions.

Claypoole is married to the former Gladys Arbustus Johnson, 917 Johnson Avenue,
Kittanning. His mother, Mrs. Zelda Claypoole, lives at the Ross Street address
in Worthington.

Before entering the Navy, Claypoole attended the Worthington-West Franklin High
School and was later employed by Graff-Kittanning Clay Products Company of
Worthington (Craigsville), and the Warren Cosmetic Supply Co., of Warren, Ohio.
