Richard Max Shearer

Richard Max Shearer, 74, of Maple Street, Worthington, died Wednesday, May 22,
1996, at home.

He was born in Buffalo Valley on January 1, 1922, to John Pressley and Mary
Myrtle (Ruffaner) Shearer.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Snyder Associated Companies. He
served with the Marines during World War II.

He was a member of the Worthington American legion and the Buffalo Valley
Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his wife, Adda Pearl (Kuhn) Shearer, whom he married on June
9, 1942; a son; Pressley Richard Shearer of Kittanning; two daughters, Mrs
Richard (Rosalie) Whiteman of Numine and Mrs. John (Shawnee) Boltz of
Kittanning; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Oren B. Shearer
of Indiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Bernice L.) Claypoole of Indiana and
Avanelle K. Ross of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by a son, Cary Max Shearer, May, 1971.

Friends of Richard Max Shearer, 74, of Worthington, who died May 22, 1996, will
be received at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 424 Bear St., Worthington, on
Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral
services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
Mark McCallion of the Franklin Union Baptist Church, officiating and the Rev.
Roy Warren assisting. 

Burial will be in the Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
