Edward Ivor Bowser

Edward Ivor Bowser, 84, of Reynoldsville, Pa., died Sunday, March 15, 2009, in
Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. 

Born September 14, 1924, on his grandfathers farm in (East Franklin Township),
Kittanning, Pa. He was a son of the late Nicholas Clark and Emma (Powell)
Bowser.

Around 1937, his parents moved to a farm several miles north of Worthington on
the road to Cowansville, Pa.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa. 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Reynoldsville. 

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army, and was awarded two
Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and World War II Victory Medal. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca O.
(White) Bowser, whom he married May 18, 1946; four brothers, Sidney Lloyd
Bowser, John Gilpin Bowser, Roger Lee Bowser and Andrew Craig Bowser; four
sisters, Mary Virginia Hindman, Emily Margaret Morgan, Doris Elizabeth White and
an infant sister, Ruth Bowser.

Survivors include two daughters, Beth A. (Ronald A.) Ruffaner, of Worthington,
and Carol Sue (David D.) Altmire, of Butler, Pa.; three brothers, Herbert Clark
Bowser, of Worthington, Donald Lee Bowser, of Kittanning, and Gerald Powell
Bowser, of Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Martha Ann Patton, of Kittanning; three
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 33 nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 16, 2009
at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, Worthington. Services will be held at 11:30
a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 17, 2009 in the funeral home with the Rev. Hughie Orsborn
officiating. 

Interment in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.
