Harry Ellsworth Vensel

Harry Ellsworth Vensel, 73, of Clearwater, Florida died Thursday, October 15,
1998 at Mease Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin, Florida.
 
He was born January 22, 1925 in Kittanning, Pa., to Charles E. and Alice May
(Bowser) Vensel.
 
Harry graduated in 1942 from Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.
 
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
 
He graduated from Thiel College, Greenville, Pa. and became an ordained Lutheran
Minister.
 
His first pastor-ship was in Reynoldsville, Pa. from 1951 - 1953. From
Reynoldsville, he and his wife moved to New Kensington, Pa. where he was the
pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church for 19 years. In 1972, they moved to St.
Petersburg, Florida. He retired in 1980 after eight years as the pastor of
Christ Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg. In the interim, Harry had recovered
from an aneurysm in 1978 and was able to return to his pastor-ship for several
more years. After his retirement, he filled in for other Lutheran Churches in
the area.
 
He and his wife became members of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Dunedin, Florida.
 
Survivors include a son, Gregory David Vensel, Tarpon Springs, Florida; a
daughter, Kimberly Vinet Jahn, Tallahassee, Florida; a brother, Donald Richard
Vensel, Tarpon Springs, Florida; and two grandchildren, Garrett Gregory Vensel
and Lindsey Vinet Jahn, Tallahassee, Florida; and the mother of his children,
Ruth Irene (Cowen) Vensel, of Tallahassee.
