John Arthur Collar

John Arthur Collar, 75, of RD 1, Kittanning, Pa, died Monday, January 13, 1997
at his residence.

He was born December 25, 1921 in West-Franklin Township to Walter T. and Sarah
Jane (Wolfe) Collar.

He was a graduated with the class of 1941 from Worthington-West Franklin High
School, Worthington, Pa.

Mr. Collar was retired since 1979 fro Bell Transit, having 28 years of service.

He was a member of the Worthington Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a U.S. Army
veteran having served during World War II, from 1942 to 1946, in the European
Theatre. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the B.P.O. E. Elks,
both of Kittanning, Pa., and a member of the Worthington American Legion,
Worthington.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (McClafferty) Collar, whom he married on May
14, 1947; one son, John Arthur Collar Jr., of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs.
Richard B. (Linda L.) Bowser of Brookville, Pa.; six grandchildren; and one
sister, Mrs. Bruce (Eleanor Jane) Davis of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Collar, who died in 1986;
two brothers, Richard E. Collar and Harry E. Collar; and one sister, Margaret
Elizabeth John.

Friends of John Arthur Collar, 75, of RD 1, Kittanning, Pa, who died January 13,
1997, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
Wednesday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Inc., A Forethought Member, 200
S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held at the Worthington
Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 1997, until the
time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Sue Irons,
officiating, assisted by Pastor Arlene Schweitzer.

Interment will take place in the Worthington Lutheran Church Cemetery,
Worthington, Pa.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American
Heart Association and/or the American Diabetes Association.
