Freda Alena Claypoole Peechatka

Freda Alena Claypoole Peechatka, 94, of Pocono Township, passed away peacefully
Monday morning, July 17, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Snydersville.

Born on April 7, 1923, in Worthington, she was a daughter of the late Wade
Stanley and Vera Gladys (Gaiser) Claypoole.

She was a 1941 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.

During World War II, she worked making shell casings at the Pullman Standard
Plant; then was a waitress at the OK Diner in Snydersville and Laurel Diner in
Tannersville; and retired from Connaught Labs (now Sanofi Pasteur) in
Swiftwater.

Freda was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Scotrun, where her 
volunteer spirit was always on display. At church she was active with the 
ladies auxiliary,served as treasurer for many years, and was well known for 
her awesome raisin pie. She was also a member of Pocono and Jackson Townships 
Historical Society.

She enjoyed a full and happy life.

Freda is survived by the love of her life, Richard E. Peechatka, with whom 
she enjoyed 71 great years of marriage; two sisters, Doris Wagner and Shirley 
Higginson; brothers and sisters-in law; and nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by by three brothers, Donald Claypoole,  Wade
Stanley "Junior" Claypoole, Jr. on July 7, 1945 and an infant brother at birth 
and and three sisters; Bernice Elizabeth Williams on April 8, 1982, Dorothy Lee
Claypoole on March 3, 1983 and an infant sister at birth.

Freda's life will be celebrated on Friday, July 21, at St. John's Lutheran
Church, 367 Scotrun Ave., Scotrun; where the viewing will begin at 1 p.m.
followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Sherrie L. Sneed will
officiate. 

Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Scotrun, Pa. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to St. John's Lutheran
Church, P.O. Box 177, Scotrun, Pa. 18355.
