Mary Augusta Vlah Steinherz passed away October 26, 2003, at 01:45, in Seattle,

She was born in Bessemer, Pa., March 19, 1922, a daughter of Croation
immigrants, Joseph Vlah was her father. She lived with Michael M. and Olga M.
(Vlah) Tancabel during her school years.

She attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

She married Hans Andor Steinherz in Pittsburgh in 1948 and began a family and an
odyssey that lasted over 50 years and took her and our father back to Germany,
where he was born, to Italy, Switzerland, Japan and China.

Mary was an autodidact who taught herself Russian while the children were
growing up and became a real estate broker.

Mary had a deep and abiding love for beauty and loved late nineteenth century
French painting.

Her husband was an accomplished amateur photographer.

Mary's sense of humor was never at the cost of someone else. Mary had a hard
time taking care of Dad when he got ill, but never complained. Her own last
years were fraught with pain and concern for us.

She is survived by children Josef, Wini and Geoffrey.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hans and
brother, John J.

Possible younger siblings-Robert Henry, Charles R., Donald E., Joanne.
