Elsie Elgerda Ray Couch

Elsie Elgerda Ray Couch, 66, of 906 Madison Ave., East Butler, died at 4 a.m.
Tuesday, January 6, 1987, at her home after an illness.

Born in Worthington, Armstrong County, September 12, 1920, she was the daughter
of James H. and Mary (Lamison) Ray.

She was a 1939 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.

Mrs. Couch was a member of East Butler Presbyterian Church; Butler Chapter 45,
Order of Eastern Star, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Surviving are her husband, Wade W. Couch, whom she married Oct. 8, 1947; a
daughter, Mrs. Daniel B. (Phyllis) Laporte, of Butler; seven brothers, Wilbert
Ray, of Worthington, William H., of Fenelton, Adam E., George H. and Perry F.,
of Butler, Richard E., of Indiana, Pa., and Donald W., of Poland, Ohio; four
sisters, Sarah Ellenberger, of Seattle, Martha Rider, of Grove City, Jean Maley,
of Inverness, Fla., and Shirley L. Hardies, of Annapolis, Md.; three
grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A brother, James Herbert, preceded her in death.

Friends of Mrs. Elsie A. Couch, 906 Madison Ave., East Butler, who died Tuesday,
Jan. 6, 1987, will be received at the Thomspson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
North St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home, with Rev.
Wayne Beil, interim pastor of East Butler Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Joan
Henderson, of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, officiating.

Butler Chapter 45, Order of Eastern Star will conduct memorial services at 6:45
p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

Private burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler, Pa.
