Betty Mae Crawford Baltes

Betty Mae Crawford Baltes, 87, of Center Township, was reunited with her late
son and late husband on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2007.

Born June 21, 1920, in Brady's Bend, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Frank
and Nancy (McClure) Crawford. 

Betty was a 1939 graduate of Worthington West Franklin High School and later of
a Pittsburgh based beautician school. 

Having a desire to become a nurse, Betty first completed a program in practical
nursing in Ambridge and later enrolled at the Community College of Beaver
County, where she earned an associate degree in nursing in 1973. Betty's nursing
career included some 20 years at the former Rochester Hospital as well as a
private duty nurse.

A resident of Center Township since 1951, she attended the Wildwood Chapel in
Aliquippa and enjoyed reading medical and health related articles.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved son, W.
Michael 'Mickey' Low, on June 28, 1957, and by her husband, William J. Baltes,
on Aug. 7, 1999. She was also preceded in death by five siblings, Frank
Crawford, Ruth Ely, Calvin Crawford, Marie Rush and Thomas Crawford.

She leaves a sister, Ann Radcliff and her husband, Daniel of Vanport, and a
sister-in-law, Georgia Crawford of Mars, Pa. Also surviving are several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public viewing or services.

Burial will take place in the family plot in Union Cemetery, Monaca, Pa.

One of Betty's passions was animals, particularly dogs. Those wishing to
remember Betty are encouraged to make a memorial contribution in her memory to
the Beaver County Humane Society, Route 18, Monaca, Pa. 15061.
