Emerson Leroy Benton
Emerson Leroy Benton, 87, a resident of Bedford, Virginia and formerly of the
Beaver Fails area, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007, in the Elks National
Home in Bedford.
Born September 29, 1920, in Worthington, Pa., a son of the late William Paul and
Frances (Welton) Benton.
He was a 1939 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.
He was employed as an Industrial Engineer for the Babcock & Wilcox Tubular
Products Company, retiring in 1982 with 30 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks 348 Club in Beaver Falls, where he
served as a trustee for 16 years; was a member of the Enon Valley Masons, and
had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-laws, Edwin L. and Holly Benton,
Wilmington, N.C., and Timothy N. and Janice Benton, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two
daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Steve "Dan" Holt, Green Cove Springs, Fla.,
and Michelle and Jim Daniel, Jacksonville, Fla., 16 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren, a sister, Ila Y. Benton, Middletown, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Pauline
(Porter) Benton, on Sept. 15, 2007; a son, David F. Benton; a sister, Jean E.
Foringer, and his brother, W. Paul Benton Jr.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Campbell's
Beaver Falls Funeral Home, 14th Street and Eight Avenue, where a service will be
conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Alleman, of the First United
Methodist Church, will officiate.
A service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home by the BPO Elks
Club 348.
Full military rites will be observed in the Campbell's Beaver Falls Funeral
Home, 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, Saturday at 10 a.m. by the Beaver County
Special Unit.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, Pa.
