Harold Malcolm Claypoole

Harold Malcolm Claypoole, 78, of Tunkhannock, Pa., formerly of Worthington, Pa.,
died Friday, March 19, 1999 at Hospice Unit of the Heritage House in Wilkes
Barre, Pa.

He was born August 23, 1920 in West Franklin Township to Jeremiah "Jerry" and
Marybelle (Weaver) Claypoole.

Mr. Claypoole was a "Class of 1938" graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High
School, Worthington, Pa. He received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture
and science.

He taught agriculture and biology and coached basketball in the Mill City, Pa.,
area of Wyoming County. He was employed by the Veterans Administration in York,
Pa., and returned to Tunkhannock to start a poultry farm and later the Carousel
Restaurant which specialized in chicken dinners. He then worked for the
Pennsylvania Agriculture Department as a health inspector until his retirement
in 1982.

In 1944, he entered the Army and served in Germany during World War II. He was
the recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Jenkins) Claypoole, to whom he was married
for 54 years; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Jennie) Negas of East Hampton, Conn.,
Mrs. Lee (Betty Jane) Teasley of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Mrs. Bill
(Mitzie) Anderson of Caldonis, Mich.; eight grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and one brother, Henry W. Claypoole of Worthington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Randall H. Claypoole
who died April 6, 1952, and James Gordon Claypoole who died September 17, 1986.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, 1999, in Tunkhannock, Pa.

Interement in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock, Pa.
