William Harry Ray

William Harry Ray, 80, of 569 Fenelton Road, Fenelton, Pa., died at 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler, Pa.

Born May 30, 1918, in Summit Township, he was the son of James H. and Mary C.
(Lamison) Ray.

He attended Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.

Mr. Ray worked in maintenance at Ray Andre Tire Co. re-treading tires for 40
years before retiring May 3, 1984.

He was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Coylesville, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta C. (Double) Ray, whom he married Feb. 7, 1942; 
three sons, Mervyn James Ray of Fenelton, William A. Ray of Slippery Rock, Pa.
and John Ray of Butler, Pa.; four sisters, Mrs. Sara M. Ellenberger of Seattle,
Wash., Mrs. Ken (Martha A. Rider) Ellenberger of Chicora, Pa., Mrs. Chalmer
(Bernice Jean) Maley of Inverness, Fla., and Mrs. Charles (Shirley Lee) Hardies
of Annapolis, Md.; five brothers, Wilbert L. Ray of Worthington, Pa., George
Harrison Ray of Saxonburg, Pa., Perry Franklin Ray of Butler, Richard Edwin Ray
of Indiana, Pa., and Donald Wayne Ray of Poland, Ohio; four grandchildren; and
numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Elsie Elgerda Couch; two
brothers, James Herbert Ray and Adam Emerson Ray.

Friends of William Harry Ray, who died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, will be
received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Thomas M. Steighner Funeral
Home, Chicora, Pa. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Friday
at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Coylesville, with the Rev. Raymond Boccardi,
church pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fenelton, Pa.
