James Marlin Shriver

Worthington man is fatally injured when he stepped in front of a backing train.
James Marlin Shriver, aged 28, of Worthington R.D. 2 a laborer in the pressure
plant of Pittsburgh Limestone Company, Buffalo Valley, near Worthington, was
fatally injured at 12:45 o'clock yesterday, Thursday, June 27, 1946. Removed to
the St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh, he died at 3 o'clock on Thursday.

Shriver failed to see the Baltimore & Ohio railroad train which was backing
empty cars into the mine. He stepped in front of the cars and was hurled to the
ground. The train stopped immediately. He died of internal injuries.

He was born October 12, 1917 and leaves his father and mother, Robert Elliott
and Emma Rebecca (Taylor) Shriver, and two brothers; Robert G. Shriver of
Worthington and G. Harvey Shriver at home.

He was a 1936 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa.

Friends are being received at the family residence.

Funeral services will be held from the family residence, Worthington R.D. 2, at
2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Oliver P. Strong, pastor of the
Worthington Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
