William Davis Rhodes
William Davis Rhodes, 72, of 841 S. Diamond St., Ravenna, Ohio, died Tuesday,
September 27, 1988, at Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna, Ohio, after a long
illness.
Born March 9, 1916, in Valley Township (Armstrong County) northeast of
Kittanning, Pa., the son of Homer D. and Rosa May (Reed) Rhodes.
He graduated in 1935 from Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington,
Pa., and married Helen J. Forester a Worthington resident in 1938.
He had lived in Ravenna, Ohio, since 1942.
He retired from Flintkote Company, Ravenna in 1978 when the company closed due
to bankruptcy.
Survivors include his second wife, Mary (Payne); sons, Wesley Rhodes of Kent,
Ohio, Jack Rhodes of Youngstown, Ohio, Edwin Rhodes of Florida, Billy Rhodes of
California, Dennis Rhodes of Georgia, Larry Rhodes of Canfield, Ohio and Timothy
Rhodes and Michael Rhodes at home; daughters Sally Maples and Karen Frishel,
both of Canfield, Beverly Turnbull of Alabama, Linda Welton of Dayton, Ohio and
Debbie Gillespie and Wilma Davidson, both of Kent; stepsons, Robert Wagner of
Kent and Robert Owens of Ravenna; stepdaughters, Penny Barlow of Akron, Ohio,
Sandra Pizzute and LaDonna Admire, both of Ravenna, and Melissa Owens, at home;
30 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
He had/has three older siblings; Essamay, Walter M. Rhodes and Viola. He was
preceded in death by an infant sister, Edna L. Rhodes.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 29,
1988, at Wood Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel,where services will be held at 11
a.m. Friday, September 30, 1988.
Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna, Oh.
